Is a single mattress ok for an adult?

A single mattress and bed are perfectly fine for an adult to sleep in, whether this be as a guest bed or because you have a small room. For couples, you'll need at least a small double mattress.

A single mattress can also work well for children as it will fit most kid's beds. Just be aware of getting the correct depth mattress for kids' beds that have the sleeping area above the floor, such as bunk beds.

Which single mattress is best for me?

The best single mattress for you depends on many factors, most importantly your needs and budget.

For a cheap single mattress, a traditional spring mattress is a good option. And just because these are on the cheaper end, it doesn’t mean they don’t offer comfort. They are great value and available in a variety of comfort grades.

A latex filling is a perfect choice if you have allergies, as these single mattresses are hypoallergenic. Memory foam is great if you often get aches and pains in your back as you sleep, but if you tend to move around in your sleep, then a pocket spring mattress is the ideal choice as it responds to your body position, ensuring comfort all night long. When choosing the best single mattress for you, it’s also important to consider your sleeping position. Side sleepers are usually best with a medium comfort grade, front sleepers generally find a firm or very firm comfort grade best, whereas those that sleep on their back tend to prefer medium or firm.
