If you’re naturally cautious with colour, or your white walls are in need of a wake up, we’ll show you how to add colour to your white bedroom. Read on for our tips for experimenting with colour combinations and textures.

Luckily, it’s super easy to get started when it comes to colour – be it bedding, furniture and furnishings. You could even get creative by adding a feature wall in a contrast colour, pattern or panelling style. We’ve collated some of our favourite looks below to help inspire you.

Create a feature wall for a white and blue bedroom

Blue is a calming colour so it’s ideal to combine with white to create a restful retreat.

Blue and white bedrooms can add an outdoorsy feel that’s instantly welcoming. That’s exactly what we’ve created above with our Emmerson bed frame. The white-walled bedroom has been accented by a feature wall behind the headboard with a misty woodland scene that showcases the duck egg blue shade of the bed frame. This natural bedroom theme perfectly complements the space with its slanted ceiling and Velux-style windows allowing natural light to pour in.

The white and grey bedroom trend

White and grey bedrooms have gained popularity in the last couple of years and this timeless trend looks set to stick around.

We love it because it’s neither too feminine nor masculine – it’s just sophisticated, neutral and fresh. You can experiment with different shades of grey and even add pops of silver or metallic for a touch of luxe glamour.

Our Ellis bed frame pictured above is upholstered in charcoal grey velvety fabric. It has been placed in a bedroom layered with soft tones of grey and white, with a geometric rug to bring the room to life. To accompany the bed frame, we’ve placed matching bedroom furniture – the Ellis bedside tables and Ellis blanket box – next to it for a uniform look. Overall, the colour scheme of this room is pared back and seamless, but it exudes serenity and cleanliness.

Experiment with neutrals for a white and beige bedroom

White doesn’t have to be paired with a high-contrast colour to make it stylish.

Beige and cream work beautifully with white for a neutral bedroom that’s warm and peaceful looking. Take a look at our Isabella bed frame pictured above; it has a light wood-effect frame in a platform style that’s bang on trend with the popular Japandi look – a hybrid of Japanese and Scandi style.

We’ve styled it in a bedroom with light taupe walls and added pristine white bedding for a simple and natural look. Pops of grey and metallic in the furnishings and ornaments add slight contrast and the Scandinavian style furniture really complements the bed frame.

Add wall panelling for a neutral, natural look

The perfect way to bring the outside in and add style, wall panelling is popular for a reason

Photographed above is our striking Hart hotel-style bed frame, in a soft upholstered finish. Its clean white finish is brought to life with pops of yellow, and set against a neatly panelled wall to accentuate the headboard and add interest without dialling up the colour.

There are many styles of wall panelling to choose from, but leaving the wood untreated creates a soft, natural finish that pairs beautifully with any number of interior looks. We’ve also added an accent wall in dark grey to create depth and dimension.

Layer up with texture and different shades of white

If you’re searching for a pared back look, textures and tonal choices are incredibly important – and you don’t need to add a drop of colour!

Our Ava metal bed frame pictured above is styled in an almost all-white bedroom but with different hues and textures to add interest and prevent it from looking too clinical.

After all, a bedroom that reminds you of a dentist’s room is not likely to help you sleep! This airy bedroom benefits from natural textures including wooden beams at the ceiling, a panelled back wall, and subtly textured bedding in warm beige.

When it comes to white paint, there are a surprising number of shades to experiment with. Just check out this Pantone® article on the ‘quiet language of white’ for all the inspiration you need to pick up that paintbrush.
