What bedding is best (and warmest!) for winter?

Firstly you'll need a duvet. Cotton and soft microfibre covers will help keep you super warm! A thicker tog rating of 10.5 -15 means your duvet will be perfect for winter. If a thick duvet just isn’t providing you with enough heat – you can also add a mattress topper or electric blanket to your bed. They are both designed to sit on top of your mattress. Of course, a mattress topper is more energy efficient if you want to save some pennies.

A weighted blanket will also help keep you snug and relaxed. They are like traditional throws and blankets but have added weight to them to promote relaxation and reduce anxiety. So, you can drift away into a peaceful slumber.

Being too cold at night can disturb your sleep, so it's important you prepare your bed with warm bedding during the bitter weather. And then you can look forward to getting into bed with a snuggly duvet, your favourite pyjamas, and a mug of calming tea every day of the week.

What does tog mean exactly?

Tog is a unit of thermal measurement that is most commonly used in the textile industry. It indicates how effective a material is at insulating. A low tog rating means that the material does not insulate well and so it would be good for cooling, while a higher tog rating shows that the material will retain heat much better.

Choosing the right tog for winter all depends on personal preference and the climate of your home. Buying a warmer duvet for winter can help cut down heating costs so you'll want to take tog into consideration.
